Easy Fried Brown Rice
If you are looking to make Chinese takeout fried rice but want to use brown rice with the same amazing flavors, then look no further this is the recipe to try! This brown rice fried rice is easy to put together and it is loaded with shrimp, carrots, peas, onions, and flavorful sauces.

- 1 small sweet onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 10 shrimp or vegan shrimp, cleaned and deveined
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots rinsed
- 2 cups cooked cold brown rice
- 2 eggs
- 1 scallion for garnish, chopped
Sauce Mixture
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce can substitute for mushroom sauce to make recipe vegan
- pinch of black pepper
Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
Place cooking oil in a hot wok or pan. Add onions and cook until onions become slightly transparent- for about 2 minutes. Then add minced garlic and stir.
Add shrimp (or vegan shrimp) and stir for 1 minute.
Then add carrots and peas and toss for another minute.
Add 1 tbsp of sauce mixture and stir. Then add brown rice. If the rice has lumps in it then lightly break them apart. Mix brown rice well with vegetables and shrimp. Add remaining sauce mixture to rice and stir well.
Create a small area or well on the pan (see tips above) and add eggs. Stir the eggs into the rice mixture when eggs are halfway done, this will allow the egg not to get overcooked.
Serve fried rice hot with green onions on top for garnish and enjoy!
