This simple overnight oat is an easy make ahead breakfast. This is perfect for right before work, right before school, or for a busy week ahead.

What are overnight oats?

Usually old fashion or rolled oats soaked overnight in a liquid (usually milk).

Substitutes:

For best results, follow recipe as is. However, there are many ways to make this recipe work for your dietary restrictions or depending what you may have in your kitchen.

  • Milk substitutions- You can use plant-based milk or water.
  • Sweetener options- You can omit honey all together, use maple syrup, or sugar alternatives.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup milk (or water)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • fruit toppings: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, banana, mango

Instructions
 

  • Add oats with milk, vanilla, honey, and chia seeds in container with lid. Stir.
  • Leave overnight in refrigerator.
  • Top overnight oats with fruit and toppings next morning and enjoy! Note: If you prefer warm oats, you may microwave before adding toppings.
